There are many challenges to living with an invisible illness and the pain that comes with it. But with new research we now know there are also many ways to regain control and live well with pain.

Chronic pain isn’t just physical, it has a huge emotional and psychological impact. It is rarely fixed by a single treatment and often needs a combination of strategies to address it. Despite this there is good reason to have hope because there are lots of different strategies that have been proven to help reduce the impact of pain on your life.

This website is designed to direct you to some trusted resources to help you to access the knowledge you need to discover the best way for you to live with your pain. It has been put together to help you understand and navigate the often unexpected twists and turns that pain can cause in your life.

About Us

The goal of the HELPP website is to support you on your pain journey. It has been designed as part of a Doctorate program by Kate Sheridan an Athletic Therapist and Physiotherapist specialising in chronic pain rehabilitaiton. This website has been codesigned by a a diverse team of members of the public living with chronic pain, a team of researchers in DCU, and a team of clinicians specialising in pain mangement from the Mater hospital.

All information included in the website is based on up to date research and provides a central location of knowledge and guidance on pain management strategies. This website is not designed to replace your healthcare professionals advice but rather to enhance your knowledge so that you can work closely with your healthcare professional in deciding the treatment apporaches essential for your journey.
